1 February 2017 VIRM amendment now live - affects WoF, CoF, HVSC

In November 2016, the Vehicle Dimensions and Mass (VDAM) Rule 2016 was signed, which came into effect on 1 February 2017.

The rule sets vehicle size and weight limits, and vehicle configuration requirements. Although there is a focus on heavy vehicles, light vehicles and motorcycles are also affected.

The rule is intended to strike a reasonable balance between the risks that heavy vehicles present to public safety, and the efficient operation of the heavy vehicle fleet within the constraints imposed by the road network.

As a result of the new rule, there are amendments across the in-service VIRM and the heavy vehicle specialist certification VIRM. You can see where the changes have occurred by clicking on the links below.

WoF inspectors, CoF inspectors, entry certifiers and heavy vehicle specialist certifiers will need to familiarise themselves with the changes.

VIRM: In-service certification
VIRM: Heavy vehicle specialist certification
