Update on Suzuki Fronx

Late last year, NZTA advised owners of Suzuki Fronx vehicles in New Zealand to stop carrying passengers in the rear seats of the vehicles. This followed the failure of a safety belt in a laboratory crash test carried out by the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP).

Suzuki NZ is now:

  • in the process of contacting affected vehicle owners to arrange the recall to replace the rear seat belt, which will be carried out at Suzuki dealers.
  • restarting the sales of Suzuki Fronx which will all be equipped with the appropriate rear seat belt.

Once the recall for the vehicle has been completed at a Suzuki NZ dealer, the advice not to carry back seat passengers can be ignored.
