• B-pillar cracks update

  11 October 2024

  Mercedes Benz (Australia/Pacific) recently advised NZTA that they have determined that the B-pillar cracking on 906155 and 907155 Mercedes Benz Sprinter is cosmetic. NZTA is awaiting written confirmation on this advice from the manufacturer in Germany before we advise further. In the meantime, the current CoF regime for B-pillar cracks extended until 1 February 2025 is still applicable.

• CoF regime for B-pillar cracks extended until 1 Feb 2025

  We’re extending the current CoF regime for B-pillar cracks that to 1 February 2025. If a minor crack is identified at inspection, a CoF can be issued with notes added to the checksheet comments section. This will allow time for owners to have it repaired.

• Change from Police vetting to criminal record check

  From 1 July 2024, people submitting inspecting organisation (IO), vehicle inspector (VI), or specialist certifier applications that require NZTA fit and proper checks will need to get their own criminal records from the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and send it to us with their application.
