WoF online password changes

To keep our data safe, Waka Kotahi is introducing new security requirements for WoF online.

New password requirements

What’s changing? 

Passwords will be required to meet the New Zealand Government standard. This means:

• your password will need to be 10 to 12 characters, and with at least 3 of the following:
  • Uppercase A-Z
  • Lower case a-z
  • Numbers
  • Special characters
• you can’t reuse a previous password (or a similar one) within the next 8 password changes. e.g., just changing a number at the end of a previous password (Summerb@y1 to Summerb@y2)
• there will also be controls in place to prevent use of common or easy to guess passwords such as ‘Password123’ or ‘NZTA12345’.

Timing

The new password requirements will apply at your next password reset after 20 May 2023.
